The path to your garment begins with choosing the right material. We stock exclusive fabrics from weaving mills such as Loro Piana and Zegna. In our atelier in Zurich, we take the time to precisely analyze your posture and proportions. This precision in preparation guarantees a fit that goes far beyond the standard measurements of conventional tailoring.
Style selection and measurements
After a discussion about the customer’s preferences and advice from our stylist, the customer chooses the style, cut, main fabric and lining as well as individual options. These include pocket shapes, buttons, the type of stitching and the design of the collar, cuffs or lapels. Once the vision of your bespoke garment is conceived, the stylist will take measurements to determine the required sizes and individual body features for a perfect fit.
Pattern creation
Special software is used to create a paper pattern of all the details, taking the customer’s anatomy into account. The paper pattern of your model is checked to ensure the alignment of all elements and a perfect fit. The balance between the body parts, the calculated seam allowance and the correct position of all connecting lines are checked.
Fabric cutting
All fabrics are carefully checked for defects and the pattern is transferred taking the thread direction into account. This is done either with a laser cutting machine or manually, depending on the material. If necessary, the fabric is treated with steam before cutting to prevent subsequent changes in shape. Patterned fabrics are cut so that the pattern matches perfectly at the seams.
Preparation of the details
First, the details are stitched: edges are neatened and linings are fixed by hand to ensure shape and stability. If desired, stitching can be done with contrasting thread to visually emphasize the craftsmanship. The main parts are then put together to form the construction, pockets are inserted and finishes such as collars or cuffs are prepared.
First fitting
The garment being made to measure is put on the customer for an initial detailed assessment. In this phase, often referred to as the tack fitting, we assess the fit in motion and analyze the entire silhouette. We pay particular attention to the balance and correct positioning of the shoulders. Any necessary adjustments are marked directly on the material to perfectly match the architecture of the garment fabric to the individual anatomy. This is the moment when your made-to-measure garment takes its first tangible shape and we ensure that the technical basis for a perfect end result is absolutely flawless.
Customization and completion
Seams are re-sewn and lengths and widths are precisely adjusted. This is followed by the final assembly of all parts, taking the alterations into account. The lining is finished and details such as buttonholes and buttons are attached by hand. Step-by-step ironing and steam treatment give the garment its final shape and elegance. Finally, all seams are checked for durability and perfection.
Last fitting
The finished masterpiece is tried on for a final check. During this final meeting before handover, we check every detail of your bespoke wardrobe for the highest level of precision craftsmanship. We make sure that the garment not only looks good, but also offers maximum comfort. It’s about the feeling that arises when craftsmanship and individual style merge. We discuss the correct handling and care to ensure that your custom-made product retains its shape for years to come.
