Gavel Bespoke: Where craftsmanship becomes personal architecture.

Genuine Bespoke starts with a blank sheet of paper. In our studio at Claridenstrasse, Maria Gavel, 7th generation tailor, creates your individual pattern from scratch.

We take into account anatomy, balance and movement – for a result that goes far beyond traditional made-to-measure. Visit us on Google Maps, to read our customer reviews.

Gavel tailor-made suits

Precision and mastery without compromise. Every stitch is placed considering material tension and body dynamics. No outsourcing, no shortcuts: we control every step from the first chalk mark to the final finish directly in Zurich. A GAVEL suit is an investment that lives as long as your standards. Investment: from CHF 8’000 (plus fabric) – Production time: 3–6 months.

Handmade Italian bespoke suits: The gold standard

Made entirely by hand in Italy in the same manufacturer (since 1968) that produces for the world’s most prestigious luxury brands.

Here, specialized craftsmen work with the same techniques and materials. The decisive GAVEL difference: instead of blindly relying on the manufacturing process, our master pattern maker optimizes the balance and garment structure to suit your anatomy.

A GAVEL jacket lives. We do not use industrial fused interlining. Thanks to the traditional full-canvas processing with a pikierte horsehair and linen insert, the jacket adapts to your body over time instead of losing its shape. That’s the difference between disposable consumption and a real investment.

Handmade Italian bespoke suits

This quality is often sold in the five-figure range – but with us you only pay for the craftsmanship, not the label. Your direct entry into the world class starts at CHF 3,460 for a full bespoke suit.

Exclusive fabrics: Pure cashmere from CHF 4’800.- | Vicuña from CHF 17’500.-

European tailor-made suits: The genuine entry to real tailoring

Here, “made-to-measure” is not a marketing term, but a construction standard. Made in our Spanish partner atelier, this line offers over 100 customization options – from the lapel shape to the shoulder construction.

We use fabrics from renowned Italian and British mills, but we define quality not just by the label on the fabric, but by the construction. A good fabric only reveals its true value through the correct cut and internal structure.

Spanish tailored suits

Ideal for pragmatists and early career professionals looking for understatement. If you want to step away beyond off-the-rack without immediately investing in the top price segment, you’ll find a smart solution here. A suit that impresses not with its brand name, but with its fit and durability – an entry point that needs no explanation.

Business suits for immediate customization: fast, precise, tailor-made. When “off-the-rack” is not enough.

An important occasion – be it a wedding or a last-minute board meeting – often cannot be postponed. Our ready-to-fit collection is the answer when time is limited but quality cannot be compromised.

These half-canvased suits are made by the same Spanish tailors and with the same workmanship as our made-to-measure line. The difference: they are already in stock, but designed in such a way that we can adapt them precisely to your anatomy in our Zurich studio.

Basic adjustments (such as sleeve or trouser length) are included in the price and are made within 96 hours as standard. In urgent cases, we offer a 24-hour service. Finer adjustments such as waist or back width are also often included, provided they can be realized within a regular session (1-2 hours).

Business suits for immediate customization

As always: no synthetic fabrics. We only use high-quality virgin wool for the outer fabric and breathable cupro for the lining. The ideal solution for anyone who needs a suit that doesn’t feel like it’s “off-the-rack”, but like it’s handmade. If you need a suit that fits, looks and feels like made-to-measure – but without the waiting time – then you’ve come to the right place.

Why GAVEL?

Garment constructor instead of salesperson

In many boutiques, a salesperson takes your measurements after a short training session. At GAVEL, a 7th generation tailor analyzes your anatomy. With 25 years of experience, we guarantee that not only measurements, but also your body features are taken into account. We don’t sell stories or labels. We sell real quality and fit.

Posture and balance

We don’t just shorten sleeves. We correct the structure of the garment to suit your shoulder position, back profile and head posture. A suit has to work in motion and not just look good on the mannequin.

Genuine materials and workmanship

We use fabrics from top weaving mills such as Loro Piana, Zegna or Scabal as well as rare vintage stocks that are not available on the mass market. Our focus is on the fiber and the quality of the stitching. In our premium lines, we consistently do without adhesive interlinings and use full-canvas construction for maximum durability.

Zurich Claridenstrasse

We are not a walk-in shop on a tourist street, but a discreet studio in the heart of the financial district. Here you receive personal expertise and in complete privacy.

Anatomy versus arithmetic: the difference between measuring and understanding.

We often emphasize how crucial it is who guides the measuring tape – a salesperson or a designer. It’s not a question of style, but of physics. Ask yourself:
Why doesn’t the suit fit, even though it was made to measure?

Anatomy cannot be captured in a sizing chart. Conventional suppliers often only adjust the width, but ignore the body balance. Those who only take measurements create a shell, not a second skin.

Here are typical mistakes that occur when suits are measured instead of engineered:

We are trusted by leading Zurich personalities from business and politics who value quality over brand names.
